Trauma Therapy
We are trauma therapists. If something bad has happened to you, we are here to help.
Nothing you tell us will scare us away. Let’s walk through this together.
Traumatic events are unfortunately part of many people’s lives.
Sometimes we don’t recognize something as traumatic because we did not directly experience the event, however, witnessing an event, learning that an event has happened to a loved one, or repeated exposure to details of traumatic events (e.g., first responders) is also trauma.
We believe that experiencing the world with certain identities—such as a person of color or a member of the LGBTQIA+ community—just interacting with the world on a daily basis is also traumatic.
Do not worry that your trauma is not “bad enough” or that it’s too much. We can help.
The wound is the place where the light enters you.
~ Rumi
Exposure to traumatic events can lead mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Fortunately, there are two treatments for trauma exposure considered “gold standard” treatments. They are Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).
We are trained in both EMDR and CBT and use both with kids, teens, and adults in our practice.
