Why I Chose Marriage and Family Therapy
As a marriage and family therapist in Madison WI, I believe our struggles and strengths are deeply shaped by the systems around us. Our families, communities, and life experiences influence the way we see ourselves and how we relate to others.
This perspective, called systems thinking, is at the heart of my work. It allows me to look at the bigger picture instead of only focusing on the problem in front of us. By understanding these larger dynamics, therapy can bring real and lasting change.
Who I Work With
I work with individuals, couples, and families. My goal is always to meet you where you are and create a supportive space for healing.
-
For individuals, therapy might mean processing life transitions, managing stress, or working through patterns that no longer serve you.
-
For couples, it often looks like strengthening communication, rebuilding trust, or rediscovering connection.
-
For families, therapy can provide tools for healthier communication, understanding one another, and navigating conflict with more care.
Whether it’s helping someone navigate a new life stage, supporting couples in deepening their bond, or guiding families toward healthier communication, I feel honored to walk alongside people in their journeys.
My Approach to Therapy
I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every person, couple, and family brings unique strengths, challenges, and stories into the therapy room. Because of this, I draw from different approaches and tailor them to your needs.
Therapy is collaborative. That means we’ll work together toward growth, clarity, and meaningful change. My hope is that therapy feels less like “fixing problems” and more like creating space for discovery, healing, and new possibilities.
As a marriage and family therapist in Madison WI, I want clients to feel supported and encouraged, but also empowered to recognize their own capacity for resilience and change.
A Little About Me
Outside of my work, you’ll usually find me moving — swimming, running, cycling, or hiking. Staying active keeps me grounded and energized. On quieter days, I love knitting a new sweater with a movie on in the background, often with a cat or two curled up nearby.
These simple joys remind me that balance matters. Just as I encourage clients to find what nourishes them, I also try to live that out in my own life.
What I Hope Clients Take Away
My hope is that you’ll find encouragement in therapy — a reminder that you’re not alone, and that change is possible. Sometimes it starts with small steps, like learning to listen differently or giving yourself permission to rest. Other times it’s about untangling long-standing patterns and creating new ways forward.
Either way, therapy can be a spark for healing, growth, and connection. If you’re looking for a marriage and family therapist in Madison WI, I’d love to walk with you on that journey.
