About HEART Counseling
At HEART Counseling, we believe that healing happens in the context of safe, supportive relationships.
Therapy is not about “fixing” you—it’s about helping you better understand yourself, reconnect with your strengths, and move toward the life you want to live.
We provide trauma-informed therapy in Madison, Wisconsin and online throughout the state, supporting teens, adults, couples, and families through anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and more.

Our Approach to Therapy
Our name reflects the values that guide our work.
At HEART Counseling we believe:
- Health and healing can be achieved through
- Education
- Active participation in your treatment, and the use of effective,
- Research-based
- Treatments
We believe that meaningful, lasting change happens through a combination of understanding, collaboration, and effective care. Therapy is not something that is done to you—it’s a process we engage in together.
We are trauma specialists who work from a strengths-based perspective, committed to meeting clients from all walks of life wherever they are in their journey.
Trauma-Informed, Personalized Care
Our therapists understand that many of the challenges people face—whether it’s anxiety, relationship struggles, or feeling stuck—are often connected to past experiences, stress, or overwhelming life circumstances.
We use evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS/parts work), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma-Focused CBT. At the same time, we recognize that therapy is not one-size-fits-all. We thoughtfully adapt our work to meet your unique needs, pace, and goals.

Our Values & Commitments
As a practice founded by a social worker, we are committed to the social work values of service, competence, and integrity.
We believe in the importance of human relationships and that dignity and worth is inherent to ALL people.
We are deeply committed to social justice. HEART Counseling and all of its employees stand against racial hatred, bias, systemic racism, and the oppression of specific groups.
We are affirming and welcoming of all people, particularly those who are vulnerable or have been historically oppressed, including people of color and those in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. As part of this commitment, we continually examine our own privilege and biases so that we can show up with greater awareness, humility, and care.
