Abby DeRoche, APSW

Psychotherapist

Abby is a clientcentered, strengthsbased therapist who believes people heal through connection rather than distance.

She approaches each person with curiosity, compassion, and the belief that multiple things can be true at once.

Abby believes therapy isn’t about fixing people; therapy is about creating a connected, human space where people can reconnect with what is meaningful and resilient within themselves.

Abby’s background includes working with pregnant and postpartum women navigating substance use disorders at ARC Community Services. She also spent time at Planned Parenthood researching ways to improve maternal and infant health outcomes, especially for people of color.

These experiences deepened her commitment to normalizing diverse reproductive health journeys, reducing shame, and supporting clients through the emotional, relational, and identityshifting aspects of reproductive and perinatal life.

Abby says, “I consider it a privilege to witness each person’s unique story and walk alongside them as they navigate transitions, grief, identity, and growth”

Abby uses a humanistic, traumainformed lens and integrates modalities such as Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, and the Enneagram, and plans to be trained in EMDR in the fall.

She also incorporates the physical environment as a therapeutic tool, intentionally shaping the space through calming colors, textures, and sensory elements to support regulation and safety.

“I’m dedicated to deepening my understanding of identities and experiences beyond my own, and I continually examine how my privilege and perspective show up in the therapy room. I strive to meet these conversations with openness, care, and curiosity.”
